Forklift Tire Specs
Forklifts have been an essential device within commercial businesses and industry ever since 1917. During its history the forklift has changed through different kinds, from a tractor with a platform attachment to a specialized high-tech equipment. Forklift tires have also changed into specialized tires, with different kinds designed to meet particular functions.
Cushion (Solid) Tires
A cushion tire is made of rubber or solid polyurethane and is best for indoor work on smooth surfaces. The tread of a cushion tire is bonded or pressed onto the steel ring of the tire. Cushion tires are rated ease of steering and for various load capacities. Cushion tires are normally utilized within warehouse settings.
Pneumatic Tires
Pneumatic forklift tires are filled with air or foam. They come in two types: radial or bias. Depending on the use, they come with different sidewall protection, tread depths and weight. Foam-filled pneumatic forklift tires are less susceptible to punctures and maintain constant pressures. Pneumatic tires are usually used outdoors on surfaces which are rough and uneven.
Pneumatic Shaped Solid/Solid Pneumatic
The comfortable ride that pneumatic tires offer together with the puncture resistance which solid tires provide are the combined features of Solid Pneumatic Hybrid Tires. They are an alternative to the outdoor pneumatic tire.
Large Rubber and Flotation Tires
Used on wheel loader forklifts are big rubber tires which could either be foam, solid or pneumatic. These tires are best for moving and loading heavy items into processing equipment or onto trucks. Big flotation pneumatic tires are best for masted rough terrain forklifts normally used at lumberyards, construction sites and auto recyclers.
