Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places orderly and to store pallets of goods and supplies, a reach truck can be used. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The simplest kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide beneath the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage location. The forks slide the pallet into place. This particular type of reach truck is suitable when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
The double-deep reach truck is like the stand-up, but is ideal for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods. This version has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide beneath the pallet and grasp the sides also. These are recommended for workplaces where shelving units can be accessed in many directions. This version is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Inside the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies utilize various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and could increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
