There are actually a range of different mechanisms which raise or lower lifts on a lift truck: scissors lifts, rack and pinion lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. Scissor lifts utilize crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system used to draw the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, which is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the load. The telescoping lift system is designed with many sections which extend and retract into and out of each other to attain lifting action. Screw lifts use threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts use a system which involves multiple sections which articulate or unfold. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
In material handling processes, you'll find a lot of reasons to keep up with innovations. Material handling methods and the machines can be utilized to handle increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the need to lower inventories. Tools which are well ahead of the technological curve can help maximize production and increase profitability.
Lift truck Battery & Charging Technology
The latest innovations on electric forklifts have yielded longer run-times and higher capacities than ever before, that makes the choice to convert from the conventional internal combustion lift truck over to the improved electric models. Battery and charger combinations are providing more power for longer periods than older systems were capable of achieving. Improvements in both charger and battery technologies are not only making electric lift trucks more beneficial but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
The electric powered machines utilize Li-ion batteries or Lithium-Ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show incredible promise, although this technology is still somewhat new. They are not only smaller but could hold up to six times the charge of traditional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance needs and could maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
