Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
More than 200 deaths each year in North America are caused by forklifts, or lift trucks. Correct inspection and maintenance of forklift tires could help to reduce the risk of mishaps.

Pre-Work Check
Before the start of each shift, the tires on the lift truck must be inspected for indications of damage and wear. The air pressure in the tires should be inspected to ensure the pressure is not too low. Low tire pressure can make the machinery prone to tip-overs while lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type should be based on the kind of surface wherein the lift truck will be operating. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are best. For surfaces which are smooth, tires are normally smaller. Larger pneumatic tires are great for lift trucks for outdoor use. Pneumatic tires are able to grip well on surfaces that are rough since they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other factors
Any lift truck used on a continual basis should be checked at the completion of every shift, based on Occupational Health and Safety Administration guidelines. The tires should be inspected once more for any indication of damage, like for instance wear or cuts.

Lift truck Safety
Forklift safety is vital for any employee or employer using a forklift as lift truck mishaps could be serious resulting in personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents could cost your business money if the lift truck or the merchandise are damaged in a mishap. Be sure you really know a lot regarding forklift safety problems.
